Mount Vernon relic clock returns to first President
Dallas reports that George Washington’s nine foot tall grandfather clock and its companion thermometer barometer have been bought by the Mount Vernon Association and returned to Mount Vernon. Mrs. Maxey of the Dallas Scottish Rite Cathedral oversaw the transfer from Mrs. Julia Washington Fontaine of Dallas, the great grandniece of Washington. The timepiece, once owned by Laurence Augustine Washington, remains in excellent condition and still keeps near perfect time.
