Laying New Spur Track On Bay Street
A large force laid the new spur track of the B and Bb along Bay street near the sidewalk. Completed between Gloucester and Monk, it has served merchants and the road well, enabling loading and unloading at merchant doors. Work will proceed rapidly toward completion.

Superintendent John Kaupp Ends Life in Alabama Fire After Convulsions
John Kaupp, superintendent of a large Juniak lumber plant, died by suicide with a razor at his Sylacauga home. He had suffered epileptic convulsions, and the plant fire shortly before may have triggered the act. The Kaupp mill, worth over $10,000 with $5,000 insured, burned along with four rail cars of lumber nearby. The plant was owned by F. H. Jax Kaupp, his brother, and was among the state’s largest.

Attempt to wreck train near Austin reported
An unsuccessful effort to wreck the St. Louis flyer on the International and Great Northern railroad occurred about three miles north of Austin near the State Volunteer Grand encampment ground. A pile of cross ties and a log were found on the track and removed. arson traces were detected from burning at the encampment grounds and cedar brakes with oil found at multiple spots.

Two Men Killed in Feud Around Huntsville Shootout

Two Old Men in Force Fight in Columbus
Bob Tom Hudson and Luke Smith, both about sixty, fought in Columbus at midnight on Broad and Fourteenth. Hudson was stabbed in the neck behind the ear with a deep four inch wound. Hudson’s condition was dangerous but stabilizing after stitching. Smith surrendered to police.
