New Manager for the Grand Lula Season

Tinney of Galveston is leasing the Grand Opera House. W A Finney of San Antonio is reported to manage next season. he has theater experience and currently serves as secretary of the Electric Park Company. The opera house is under lease to R G Craerin of Washington and was managed last season by Felan. Finney is expected to arrive in a few weeks to arrange take charge.

Big Crowd On St Simon Opens Summer Season

A large Sunday crowd visited St Simon as summer season began in royal style. Boats from the city carried many passengers both morning and afternoon with visitors from other towns, railroads bringing in heavy crowds. The first Sunday for excur sions drew wide use and many returned to the city around 7 pm. The surf suited bathers in the afternoon with a large turnout.

Blaze Destroys Four Small Homes on North Wolf Street

A Sunday morning fire on North Wolf Street destroyed four small houses and spread to a two story frame building housing A C buses, with the flames gaining headway before an alarm was sent in. Most property damaged was partially insured.

Southern railroad to place large rolling stock order

The Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad under President H. M. Atkinson plans to purchase 1 780 rolling stock units including 500 box cars 400 flat cars 580 coal cars and 30 cabooses from manufacturers led by American Car and Boundary Company and South Atlantic Car and Manufacturing Company of Waycross Georgia. The order aims to boost 650 miles of track capacity and meet rising freight demand as work advances toward completion and public support grows.
