Plead Guilty On Liquor Charges In Georgia Court
The first trials under the new prohibition laws resulted in convictions in superior court. W M Clarence pleaded guilty to possessing more than the legal amount of liquor and Harry Stevens followed with a similar plea. Each received twelve months in jail or a $100 fine plus costs. Both defendants are colored and claimed they bought the whiskey eight quarts for themselves and a friend.
