R W Durden former president of Home Mutual Fire Insurance was found not guilty on a fraud charge in Federal court at Savannah. The jury deliberated twenty minutes and all remaining defendants were acquitted on judge Lambdin's instructions. Durden, with attorney Judge Max Isaac, returned to Brunswick.

Lifesaver Returns to Tybee Island Post
K Cook, longtime Brunswick fire fighter and self declared expert swimmer, left yesterday for Tybee Island to resume his former lifesaving position at the resort. He previously saved at Tybee, joined Brunswick fire department, and often claimed to be capable of swimming Brunswick to St Simons, but bad weather hindered those attempts. He likely will come back to Brunswick after Tybee season ends.
