The Retail Grocers Association of Atlanta with about 300 members likely plans a Cumberland outing for a week in June. Cumberland is favored by most members and a formal decision will come at an upcoming meeting. B J Ford of the Cumberland Route is in Atlanta discussing the trip and expects most grocers to choose Cumberland.
Deputy Sheriff J W Walker of Americus and Chief M M Davie of Fernandina detained Dean Pulliam a negro wanted in Americus for forgery from six years past He forged names at Americus then fled and was traced to Fernandina where he was arrested They will return to Americus this morning and Davie to Fernandina by the Emmeline with the prisoner held at the county jail last night
Billy Kersand a renowned ne gro minstrel headlined at the Grand last night with a top company. The dress circle and lower floor sold well and the audience gave steady applause though the house was heavily attended. Kersand, a familiar figure in Brunswick, was warmly greeted and the show was overall well received.
A Brunswick bar meeting held yesterday at 4 pm in the courthouse assigned most cases for trial during the upcoming superior court session starting Monday. Final assignments require Judge Parker's approval to be binding.
Atlanta reports the upcoming May 29 to June 1 musical festival with guests George Hamlin and Thomas Evans Greene joining ten other artists. Season tickets at 3 to 5 dollars are the largest in the festival’s history, with single tickets selling May 22. Also noted is the Gordon monument unveiling at the state capitol May 25, Kate McCarthy infernal machine case pending grand jury, and Broyles’ push to amend assault with intent to murder law to allow judge discretion.
A new post office rule effective after July 4 allows letters or packages valued at ten cents or more to be treated as special delivery if the envelope bears the words special delivery in addition to regular postage. The change follows a last Congress act and is overseen by Postmaster General Mayo.

Traffic Manager J R Rowland and General Freight and Passenger Agent J J Campion of the A B & A arrived in the city yesterday morning. They toured terminals and inspected the timber basin project and noted the rolling stock order will aid growing traffic. They returned to Atlanta last night.
Judge Speer ruled the referee lacked power to adjudicate John Ellis Jr and the firm McLaughlin Jeen Co as bankrupt while in Savannah. The partnership owed 6500 in debts yet owned 250000 in assets, so the individual assets could cover the firm’s debts and the temporary restraining order was revoked.
M A Hodges has been named to represent the local Oda Fellows at the annual meeting in Columbus. He will leave next week. The convention is expected to be one of the most successful ever held.
Sheriff Bailey takes Tom Holmes to Savannah for safekeeping after mob unrest near Darien abates. Four other enslaved individuals moved to Darien aboard the steamship Hes she and housed in McIntosh county jail. Brunswick Riflemen stood guard overnight with no further trouble reported.
Columbus May 15 The republican state central committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow was canceled after Chairman Walter I Brown and Taft campaign manager Arthur J Vorys concluded the large conference in doubt. The move followed pressure from Taft supporters while Gov Harris and supporters urged insistence on the committee gathering.

A new boxing contest is set for one night at the Grand next week. Local challenger Dixon from New York is matched with an unnamed city boxer. Promised crowd includes many local sports fans and the bout is expected to showcase Dixon's fighting to stay standing.
Two Japanese armored cruisers Tsukuba and Ohitose arrived from James Town to anchor off Thirty fourth Street. They carry General Kuroki Vice Admiral and about 1400 sailors from the recent Japanese Russian war and receive formal dinners and shore leave with entertainment arranged by a local Japanese committee.
