Four Motor Boats to be Built in Macon Line

Business leaders of Macon plan a new four boat motor line on the Altamaha and Ocmulgee rivers linking Macon and Brunswick with an emphasis on shipper support. A 4 PM Chamber of Commerce meeting will unveil plans, drawings, and expected dockage at Brunswick to avoid earlier port hazards. A. J. Long leads the organizing committee which cites Army Corps engineers and naval architects to ensure a safe profitable navigation system.

Bryan Returns Too Busy to Talk on Japanese Question

Secretary of State Bryan returns from California where he met Gov Johnson over the anti etien land laws. The Japanese government plans to withhold its protest until inquiries clarify U S actions if Gov Johnson signs the Webb Bill. Formal negotiations may involve the Hague arbitration or treaty compatibility questions. Bryan faces a busy desk and will be host in Baltimore tonight and attend a Ghent treaty centenary banquet in New York tomorrow.

Labor leaders seek stay in Bucks Stove contempt case

Attorneys for Samuel Gompers John Mitchell and Frank Morrison asked the district court of appeals for a stay of its mandate sentencing Gompers to 20 days in jail and fining Mitchell and Morrison 500 dollars each in the Bucks Stove and Range contempt case. They plan to appeal to the U S Supreme Court and the court granted leave to renew the motion within 15 days.

Silva Convicted in Involuntary Manslaughter Case

Savannah May 8 Isaac Silva found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Marion Leonard a chorus girl by morphine injection He received a two year penitentiary sentence from Judge Walter G Charlton in the superior court proceedings the day concluded.

Robber May Be Escaped Connigh

Kansas City scene reports a train hold up last week by J M Short of Joplin who collected 1100 dollars. Wm Latre is the suspect said to have escaped from Wea jail two years earlier. Latre, a former Chicago felon, was linked to a robbery of a Pacific line near Kansas City. A bloody shirt found along the railroad east of Kansas City spurred police to chase a wounded man believed to be the suspect.

In Niles Ohio on May 8 Mrs John Fleming aged five years died after attempting to light a quick fire with coal oil. Her mother Mrs Shira died a few minutes later from heart disease.
