Negro murderer hanged in Macon jail

Will Bell, a Black man who killed his wife and brother in law months earlier, was hanged in the Macon county jail at 11 am. The execution ended after a nine minute fall with his neck reportedly broken.

Hurricane Wreaks Havoc Near Taylor's Chapel

A severe hurricane struck the Taylor's Chapel area causing two to three homes to collapse, trees and fences to be destroyed, and watercourses to surge. Matt Goodbread's home was carried away while his family escaped unharmed. Rail traffic suffered washouts eight miles from Jesup, delaying Southern trains until work crews cleared the tracks.
