Birmingham on March 20 146 employees on the Southern railway Mobile and Birmingham divisions honored for 25 years of service receiving loyalty medals presented by President Fairfax Harrison. Talver Parkman a colored hammerman in Selma shop received a medal dating to 1858 when enslaved by the Alabama and Tennessee River Railroad, now part of the Southern's Mobile division. Colored man cut at Baker home on Amherst street
Ben Benton, colored, was seriously cut about the abdomen by Joe Baker, colored, at Baker's Amherst street home yesterday. Benton was reported to be doing as well as could be expected. Baker was captured and jailed. Benton rushed to city hospital. Baker claimed self defense.

Driver Wrecks AGL Engine Left Side Damaged
An accident occurred yesterday morning about 11 and a half miles from here when the left driving wheel of A C L engine No. 74 pulling Coast Line passenger train No. 1 was ripped off. The engine was demolished on the left side but only slight injuries occurred to Engineer Potter. Waycross sent an engine to bring the train to Brunswick and a wrecking train to remove the damaged locomotive for repairs.
