Dutch Steamer Bandoeng Attacked by Submarine

The Dutch steamer Bandoeng was torpedoed without warning in the Mediterranean while returning from India. It escaped with minor damage to lifeboats and reached Rotterdam safely on Sunday, according to the Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant.

Burglars Busy as Homes Are Entered in Brunswick

Police report four break ins since Monday with a suspected multiple thief ring. A. L. Church at 807 Dartmouth saw $25 cash and jewelry taken. W. H. DeVoe at 1308 Union was entered but no haul made. One suspect, a well dressed man in a slouch hat, fled after being surprised upstairs.

Georgia Veneer & Package to Hold Annual Meeting

The directors of Georgia Veneer & Package will meet in Brunswick to review year additions to the plant. Capt John Robinson of Benton Harbor Michigan arrived to attend with several other directors. President Church recently returned from Porto Rico and is expected to report. Twenty German dreadnoughts have left Kiel, per Rome dispatch through reliable sources.

Washington March 7 In the first test vote in the House on the armed ship question administration forces won 256 to 160. The move to amend the McLemore resolution to warn Americans off belligerent ships was dropped and the debate moved to the resolution itself. The administration won 271 to 138 on adopting the special rule and then opened full debate on the McLemore resolution.

N B King Sues Paper Over Libel Damages

N B King of St George formerly of this city sues the Charlton County Herald owned by T W Wrench for $16000 damages alleging libel. Information from Folkston reports the case filed in Charlton superior court. The St George Bank was closed after the death of Mr Glake with L B Mallard named as receiver by Judge Summerall.

Snowstorms Disrupt North Sea as German Fleet Movements Reported

March 7. Heavy snowstorms sweep the North Sea and unconfirmed reports say a German war fleet sails from Wilhelmhaven to face the British navy. Amsterdam dispatch notes several large German ships slipping from Kiel and reaching Zeebrugge with full steam up. Central News says 25 big warships were seen moving northward.
