Malice Closed Up Yesterday in Gloucester Street Wharf Deal

The final negotiations ended yesterday morning as Major C Downing signed the contract between the city and the Downing Company. The agreement grants the company a four inc year lease of half the street foot, free of rent, while the city leases the other half with improvements for public use. The council weighs terminal types for the new docks and work on the bulkhead and wharf will begin once settled. Alderman Wright led the project with strong leadership.

Three Suspects Arrested After Sub Treasury Robbery

Chicago March 5 three men were arrested as suspects in the recent sub treasury robbery. They resisted arrest in a clash with officers but no serious injuries occurred. All three are connected with the sub treasury and await further investigation.

Glynn County Bank Opens With Formal Ceremony

The Glynn County bank opens at 9 o'clock this morning with J. J. Lott as president and W. M. Tupper as vice president. J. L. Allen serves as cashier and J. T. Wisdom as assistant cashier, with C. J. Three Streets to be Paved by City Council Motion

At a recessed council meeting the city decided to spend about 1500 on street improvements. Union street from Gloucester to Weld and Albemarle from Al Pat Stonewall will be paved, plus street work to assist school access. Aldermen Mann and Robinson debated extending paving to Ezmon street. resolution passed. Union street paving will extend from the post office to the boulevard.

COL Brantley Celebrated on Homecoming in Brunswick

Col Brantley arrived from Washington after a long congressional session and was greeted warmly by Brunswick citizens. The congressman’s work includes harbor appropriations and river traffic boosts for the Altamaha and Oconee rivers, with a ceremonial appreciation cup planned by locals.

Death at a Mullet Supper in Americus Incident

At a plantation near Americus a fight during a mullet supper led to a volley of about one hundred pistol shots in darkness. Two people were killed outright and several others wounded. The shooting followed the lamp being put out by a bullet during the customless feast. No specific cause was given for the melee.

Atlanta railroad official visits city for inspections

Preston Arkwright, vice president of the Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad and Brunswick Steamship Company, toured the city to inspect south end terminals and other properties before returning to Atlanta.
