Chased Negroes Captured After Handcar Pursuit

Alfred Symons and Alfred Jones two Everett City men were arrested for lar ceny from a house after neighbors reported a robbery at Mr. Pinceil’s residence. Pursuit began when they fled toward Savannah on Seaboard tracks and ended with the handcar overtaking them. They were jailed in Everett and await the next superior court session.

Factory Girls In A Death by Own Action Pact

Cleveland report describes a group of factory workers in Cleveland forming a club promoting death by own action as relief from toil. Rebecca Bosechek, 18, was found dead in Gordon Park and relatives fear a second planned suicide. Anti-Saloon League Passes Resolutions in Georgia Meeting

At Atlanta on Wednesday the Georgia Anti-Saloon League adopted resolutions praising the 1907 Hardman Covington act as a advance in liquor legislation and urging stronger laws. The group lamented near-beer court decisions, called for new measures, and asked citizens to press lawmakers to curb the liquor traffic. Approved by the headquarters committee on July 27, 1909, A. R. White Plains, N. Y., July 29. C. W. Hartridge, Thaw's former counsel, testified at the sanity hearing that his instructions were general and not from Thaw. He said Thaw gave him money for Mrs. Merrill to pay women allegedly abused by Thaw, and that Thaw told her to keep quiet and to obtain letters from Mr. Reid. Jerome introduced rambling scripture quotes. Thaw said letters came from people with better than mental balance. Clifford Hartridge said the money given to the abused woman did not come from Thaw.

Soldier Encampment Festivities At St Simon Island

The Second Regiment band played at the Bellevue hotel on Monday with a dance to follow. An excursion from the city brought fifty dancers on Tuesday for another pleasant evening, and the second excursion returned last night for another Bellevue hotel dance. Soldiers enjoy their stay, but the encampment ends Sunday with a trip to the city and departures planned for the afternoon.
