A joint resolution from Senator Matthews proposes a committee of three senators and seven representatives to study fairer tax returns in Georgia. Savannah Seaman Fatally Shot on Frederick

George W. Foster of Baltimore, quartermaster aboard the steamer Frederick, Merchants and Miners, was shot late and died this morning. The assailant, Samuel B. Thebaut, pantryman on the Frederick, reportedly had been drinking and is linked to the fatal incident in Savannah Georgia on July 10.
