One Woman Killed in Wild Dash of Auto on Wilkesbarre Mountain

Wilkesbarre, Pa July 7 One woman was killed another fatally injured and two others slightly hurt in a wild automobile dash down Wilkesbarre mountain. The dead woman is Mrs James D Hughes. Miss Laura Cannon a Luzerne county bar member was probably fatally injured. James Hughes husband of the dead woman and president of the WilkesBarre Automobile Club and the chauffeur were slightly hurt. The car became disabled on descent and could not be stopped plunging into a high embankment. All occupants were thrown from the machine.

Miller Resigns from County Commission Board

Constant Miller resigns from the board of county commissioners at the regular meeting. He has served several years and one term as chairman. The resignation was accepted with regret. successor to be elected at the next meeting with no names yet mentioned.

Glynn County Board Urges Charter Amendment Support

A letter to the Retail Merchants association states the entire Fifth Georgia regiment will arrive in Brunswick on Saturday July 17. They will travel by a special train, then be transported by boat to St Simon for a ten day camp. Every company and the band will come, with the Second regiment following ten days later. Father Chases Eloiter to Force Marriage in New York

In New York a Jacksonville Fla. couple George C. Montreville and Miss Mabel Wagner aged very young sought a minister at the Hotel Gotham. Miss Wagner's father Mr. Wagner confronted them and arranged a magistrate wedding to prevent elopement. He accompanied the couple and financed the honeymoon before returning to Jacksonville.

Delegates meet in St Paul and Minneapolis for the Young People's Christian Union of the Universalist church. The national organization marks its twenty first birthday with a seven day session. Glynn County Jail Nears Completion This Summer

Glynn county's new jail is nearly finished and should be ready for occupancy within about a month, by August 15. Construction is essentially complete with contractors installing steel cells. Sheriff Berrie is expected to move in before September 1.
