Washington July 6 Senator Aldrich voiced hope final action on tariff bill 10 will occur tomorrow as schedules unopposed are voted quickly. The bill was out of committee and reprint planned to speed passage with separate recorded votes on contested amendments and an effective date hoped for July 24.
The 29th annual convention of the Photography Association of America will meet in Rochester on July 19 for six days. Seneca hotel hosts all sessions with exhibits and model plant tours illustrating lens, kodak, paper, and mount production. E. R. Barrows of Boston is president and G. W. Harris of Washington, secretary.
The 22d annual convention of the International Association of Accident Underwriters will be held at Niagara Falls Ontario on July 13 to 16. The event will award the George F. McNeill medals for notable acts of heroism. Officers include H G Alexander president and F C Robinson secretary with a nationwide executive committee of U S and Canadian members.
A Monday crowd on St. Simon attracted what was believed to be one of the island's largest gatherings. Visitors from across the state arrived Sunday for a two day stay and by four p.m. hundreds enjoyed the surf and beach as a lively program entertained the visitors.

They proposed celery and other crops as a potential major new business. the board offered to assist with land drainage and support, and a stock company may be formed to build the station.
New York reports 219 doctors and 973 laymen, totaling 1192 fighters against tuberculosis in the state. The State Charities Aid association notes an 18.3 percent doctor participation and 1.7 percent layman share, confirming Osler that anti tuberculosis work is broader than physicians.

Missoula July 6 Over 450 000 of 1 425 000 acres of valley and beach lands in the Flathead Indian reservation on the western slope of the Rockies in Northern Montana will open for settlement between July 15 and August 5. Prospective entrants under the Homestead act must register at Kalispell or Missouri between the states mentioned. It is estimated the land will provide homes for more than 190 600 families.
Macon reports all companies in the Second Georgia regiment plan a ten day encampment at St Simons Island from July 24 to August 2. Volunteers Hussars Floyd Rifles and others from Jackson Perry Milledgeville Forsyth Barnesville Griffin Tennille join, with Captains Winn Wheeler Thurman in command. Col Harris praises the grounds and Brunswick welcome.
Ella Gingles tells of the White Slave tale involving Agnes Jarrett and Mrs Cecelia Kenyon who allegedly pressured Miss Barrett. Miss Barrett named Tom Taggart as a money source while held by a man. Dr William Krohn will testify for the state in the larceny case against Gingles.
Syracuse July 6 Tom Taggart said he never saw met or heard the name Elia Gingles before the present trial opened addressing charges by a girl that Miss Barrett held her morality with him in the case.
George Rush of Edgefield, after mortally wounding his wife with whom he had been separated for years, fled to a swamp. A posse surrounded the area and found him dead by a self-inflicted bullet wound. The coroner's jury ruled death by his own action.
City council will hold a regular semi monthly meeting on Thursday night with one or two matters of interest. A definite decision is expected on the dispute with the electric car company over standard street grades, with a likely amicable settlement.
The Georgia and Alabama Industrial Index reports across Atlanta Savannah Birmingham and other cities a surge in building permits and realty sales. Large projects include new mills in Griffin and Madison County bonds in Moultrie and Alabama towns, rail and mining land deals, and plans for a new industrial school on St Simons Island.
Denver on July 6 reports Willam Hastings of Springfield Massachusetts urged teachers to prioritize physical education alongside academics. He warned that teachers with poor health damage pupils and called for improved student wellbeing in schools.
Charles J. Capen, 86, longtime Boston Latin School educator for six decades, is retired on a years leave of absence at three quarters pay.
A tobacco expert charged that Congress caused a $271,500,009 transfer to tobacco manufacturers by omitting a tariff provision. He blamed indifference to reducing package counts in 1902 and predicted the next tariff on chewing and smoking tobacco could reach eight cents per pound.

Paris reports two Garrie brothers Pierre and Gaston stand trial at Abereron for using Pierre's forged marriage by borrowing Gaston's birth certificate. Pierre, then 17, could not wed legally, and Gaston allegedly aided the fraud. If convicted, they face serious forgery charges.
Nine foreigners were killed by a gas explosion at the Cedar Hill Coal Company in Tallersville, Trinidad, Colo. on July 6. The blast occurred at the Cedar Hill mine and victims were all non citizens.
Emily Morgan the oldest resident of Columbus and perhaps Georgia dies at 117. Born in North Georgia she moved to Columbus in its early days and did washing until age 109. She endured years of misery in later life and never saw George Washington as a child.
London reports Sir Claude Macdonald British ambassador to Japan arrived in England after an 18 days 20 hour journey via the Siberian railway.
Col. Aylmer Spicer Cameron, Victoria Cross recipient for a daring charge at Kotah during the Indian Mutiny, died in Bath. He lost part of a hand in the action, retired in 1888 after 35 years of service, and was brother to Gen. Sir William Gordon Cameron. His four brothers and five sons also served in the army.
A veteran railroad man says no official sale announcement will come soon for the Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic. Receivers will run the line for months with old owners likely to regain control later. Reports that L N after the road are dismissed as unlikely, Frisco system possible later, but no purchase plans. Brunswick downplays the chatter as the line continues improvements and heavy freight.
Mrs. R B Harrison died at her home near the oyster factory early Monday from an overdose of opiate. She leaves her husband and four children, the eldest 11. Funeral held at noon at the Second Advent church conducted by Rev P Thornton. Harrison, foreman at Aiken Canning, mourned by many friends.
Brunswick's second baseball club leaves in the morning for Waycross to face the Waycross second club in a three game set. The teams met recently in Prattland with two wins for the locals, and both sides promise a strong, evenly matched series this week.
