A man calling himself W. H. Cody alias W. H. Davis, about 30, posed as a Central of Georgia special detective and swindled merchants in Columbus Georgia. He left owing hundreds, lived lavishly with his wife, consumed wine and champagne, and was refused by rail line officers who verified his false credentials. He formerly lived in Birmingham and was said to have headed toward New Orleans.

Savannah Wins Injunction Over Railroads
In a United States court Judge Speer granted an injunction against the Louisville and Nashville, Florida Central and Peninsular, and Savannah Florida and Western railroads. They are barred from discriminatory freight rates on cotton and naval stores to Savannah. The Interstate Commerce Commission found violations of the act to regulate commerce and ordered rates cut to 2.75 dollars per bale for uncompressed cotton to Savannah and no more than 25 cents per bale from Pensacola division stations to New Orleans. naval stores rates to Savannah were declared unlawful.

At 7 o'clock in Macon Georgia two Southern Railway switch engines collided opposite the baggage department of the passenger depot. One man was killed and four others seriously hurt.
