At a Brunswick city meeting President E C Machen tendered his resignation to lead the Brunswick and Birmingham Construction company. Charles L Hyde of New York was elected president and director of the B and B railroad to replace Machen. The construction firm has a 1 000 000 dollar capital and will build the line via an announced route through Georgia and Alabama. The board praised Machen for his leadership and pledged cooperation with him on construction.

Robbers Raid Clarksville Bank in Dynamite Hit
Four to six men dynamited the Bank of Clarksville in Clarksville Arkansas, securing about $6,000. Sheriff John Powers of Johnson County confronted them and was killed after exchanging fire. the robbers escaped before dawn. Powers had served 12 years as sheriff and was famed as a fearless shot.

Pittsburg February 5 An explosion on the John W. Ailes towboat owned by Mangahela Coal and Coke Co. killed one man and left four others fatally injured. Fourteen aboard including the captain fled the flames into the river as the boiler chain reaction sank the vessel. The Vulcan rescued nearly all, but the Ailes was completely destroyed.
