Two Defendants in Herrin Riots Pointed Out in Court

In Marion Illinois today two of five defendants Peter Hill er and Otis Clark were pointed out by two of the four survivors who testified. Robert Officer a University of Pennsylvania graduate and survivor described the mine attack and the surrender of defenders. He fled through woods to evade pursuit as others searched for survivors. The witness also testified about guards at the mine and the firing at the line of survivors. Officers cross examination clarified his current role in Kentucky as a mine official.

Clemenceau Reaches Paris After U S Pilgrimage

Georges Clemenceau arrived in Paris following a Canadian voyage during heavy fatigue. The ex prime minister greeted by crowds and reporters aboard the liner and in Plymouth and Paris. He planned two weeks at home then a brief trip to his parish in St Vincent du Tar. He joked about grapefruit and denied several press interviews.

Textile Mills Resume Normal Schedules After Power Restoration

Charlotte December 20 Associated Press. Textile mills across the Piedmont region of North and South Carolina move to full schedules as Southern Power Company restores full power after curtailments since November 27. Officials say curtailments were needed and now mills in eleven South Carolina counties and twelve North Carolina counties will operate normally with replenished power.

Goodbread and Moore to Remain Until After Christmas

Prohibition agents in Fernandina hold the Cuban yacht Miguel Ferrarer seized on orders from Commissioner Haynes. The vessel cleared Havana for St Miquelon and carried 3000 cases of whisky and 1000 cases of alcohol. No arrests were reported.
