Glynn county commissioners may vote next Tuesday on a bond election proposal for 100000 to fund county road improvements. Resolutions from the Brunswick board of trade and local businessmen urge favorable action, with relocation to press for support. If approved, voters would decide in a countywide ballot.
J R Rowland is appointed traffic manager for the Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic railroad with Atlanta headquarters, effective Tuesday. After resigning when the line was placed in receivership two years ago Rowland joined Brunswick Steamship Co. in New York and later moved with its ships to the Atlantic Gulf and West Indies US Co which owns Clyde Line. He is again serving Receiver H T M Atkinson as traffic manager for the A B A.
Englewood New Jersey December 1 James Ogilvie Clephane known as the father of the linotype died today following a stroke at age 68 He supported Merzenthaller to perfect the type setting machine bearing his name and pioneering work in the typewriter industry was noted.
Benj E Lott a well known civil engineer was fatally injured when a folding bed he was sleeping in collapsed closing up like a steel trap and nearly guillotining him He was unconscious and cannot live despite family efforts to assist.
New Haven Conn Dec 1 Mrs Julia Watt a famed actress known for Topsy in Tom's Cabin died today at age 87. She rose to prominence in her era and left a lasting mark on the stage.
The south end of the cold spell brings freezing readings in Brunswick with temperatures dipping to two degrees below freezing early morning. Forecasters warn a possible twenty degree night as winds shift, risking substantial frost and potential damage if the cold persists.

The Colonian, five days overdue, docked at the new docks to load a Bremen cargo for F. D. M. Strachan & Co. The steamer, described as the largest tramp ever to enter the port, will depart with between 9000 and 20000 bales of cotton after all cargo is on the docks. Sail date is expected for the latter part of next week.

Atlanta Ga Dec 1 An increase of over 3 000 000 in the tax able value of railroad and corporation property over last year is shown by consolidated returns at the office of the state comptroller general The value of corporation property in 1910 totals 123 779 367 up from 120 679 898 last year an rise of 3 099 378 in 1919 over 1900 Taxes are payable by December next though many corporations pay shortly after receiving statements of amount due
A telegram announced the death of Wm H Robertson who died yesterday at his Brooklyn home. He was the father of Mrs C McGarvey of this city and had lived in Brunswick for years. He arrived in 1889 and briefly engaged in steamboat and shipping ventures, leaving many friends in the community.
The United States government converts the idle Mallory wharf warehouse into a bonded facility for foreign shipments. Salt from Europe stored here will pay duty before release, with Gilbert & Co. of Savannah among consignors. About 12,000 tons already shipped out. 25,000 tons in care.
Engineer EF R Conant from the Dublin office leads an inspection trip along the Oconee river with E C Gavin and Tevin. They survey the river depths from three to five feet possible at low water and note 500 miles of channels needing work. A complete map shows navigable waters with cost estimates around $15,060 and a plan to improve all three rivers to allow year round navigation with minimal seasonal gaps.
