Five people, three men and two women, were killed when a Peoria and Western passenger train collided with an automobile near Leharpe, shortly after noon today. The tragedy occurred a few miles from McComb, and the Associated Press reported the incident.

Electrician Whipped Tarred and Feathered in Texas

J. W. Borden, an electrician from Beaumont, was seized by masked men near Silsbee, whipped, tarred and feathered, then returned and dumped on Main Street. No reason was given for the assault, and the sheriff reports the incident in Hardin County.

Pardon for Debs Delayed Pending Peace Treaty

Washington officials say no decision on Eugene Debs pardon or wartime prisoners amnesty will be made until Germany’s peace treaty is ratified. Attorney General recommendations, based on Gene Daugherty’s study, are ready for the President and will be discussed today. Details remain unreleased until Harding announces his decision.

Funeral of G. W. Jones Held in Palmetto Cemetery

The remains of G. W. Jones 65 died Friday afternoon at his home. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. O. P. Gilbert at the First Baptist church. A large number of relatives and friends accompanied the body to Palmetto Cemetery. Undertaker J. D. Baldwin supervised the burial. Mr. Jones spent most of his life in Brunswick and is survived by six children living nearby.

Negro Grap Game Ends in Shootout Injury

Police raided a room where a Negro grap game was taking place. R A Walker attempted to shoot Officer Slaughter as the raid began. Slaughter fired first, wounding Walker in the right arm and lung. Walker was taken to the city hospital with slim chances of recovery. other raiders were arrested.

New York dollar income figures released by the Bureau of Internal Revenue show a large drop in millionaire earnings for 1919. Only three individuals reported incomes as high as $500 during 1919.
