Reports say 300 Logan county deputies opposed a large group of miners near Blair West Virginia. Sheriff Chafin refused comment. Governor appeals for federal troops as thousands march from Marmet toward Mingo to protest martial law.
W Va Aug 26. Boone county prosecutor reports Sheriff Chafin of Logan county commands 300 deputies in a fight with a large armed group near Blair three miles from Madison. Residents flee toward Madison as miners, backed by United Mine Workers, dig trenches and stay entrenched. Officials say marmot situation not connected to the unrest.
A large crowd arriving from Marmet prepares to move toward Mingo county as martial law remains in force. Deputies and miners report no battle occurred, amid tension and armed Logan county citizens ready for action along the Boone county line.
London August 25 The British cabinet met for two hours to discuss the Irish Republican cabinet reply to Premier Lloyd George's August 13 letter. Officials said no information on Lloyd George's response would be made public at this time.

Savannah Ga Aug 25 Dr Elton S Osborne resigned as county physician after fifteen years and more amid long standing differences with the county commissioners The board of county commissioners accepted the resignation at their meeting noting directives that would have required all his time led to the decision to step down
The Brunswick Gur club held its regular weekly shoot with many members and several high scores. M B McKinnon and L J Leavy Jr tied for high guns with 48 of 50, while J M Armstrong had 45.
Tampa based Irish wrestler Bob Kennedy, nicknamed Cyclone, has arrived in Brunswick and issues an open catch-as-catch-can challenge to any light-heavyweight.
