Reorganization Plan for Georgia Coast and Piedmont R R Formulated

Brunswick Board of Trade directors meet as Malcolm B. Smith of New York outlines a plan to reorganize and rehabilitate the Georgia Coast and Piedmont Railway. Judge Highsmith granted a temporary restraining order against William J. Latham of Brunswick. Kathleen Latham, his wife, alleges ownership of a half interest in jointly acquired property and asks to bar sale or disposition. They married March 6, 1911 in Jacksonville and have two children. The petition cites jealousy and abuse. Hearing slated for September 6.

Profiteering Penalized Under Lever Act Extension

Washington Aug 22 With almost no opposition the house voted an amendment to the Lever Food Control Act extending its provisions to clothing containers of food feed or fertilizers fuel oil and implements used in production of necessities. It would penalize profiteering by five thousand dollars or two years imprisonment. Proposals to apply the act to profiteering in house and room rents were stricken out.

Street Car Fares May Rise to Seven Cents in Brunswick

The Georgia Railroad Commission set Tuesday September 9 for a hearing on a petition by the Street Car Company and Saluman Railway Co to raise fares from five to seven cents. Frank Scarlett Jr. represents the company. Citizens have not yet organized a response, but a strong fight is expected.

Local dealers cut gasoline price in Brunswick

Bruns wick auto owners benefit as Lott's filling station manager George Lott and other dealers including J. H. Morgan Auto and Central Filling station cut gasoline to twenty six cents per gallon. The move reduces cost by one cent per gallon for patrons.

Senate panel pushes treaty vote after hearing
