Glynn County reports a 1919 property valuation surge totaling 9 046 291 up from 6 899 800 the prior year. Auto values rise to 183 000 while city property tallies 4 178 225 and manufacturing stocks reach 934 106.
R S Ledsinger of Ford reports December 15, 1915 saw the casting of the one millionth Model T motor with identical design to the first. By April 8, 1919 the three millionth motor was cast, same in every detail, proving near perfection.
Washington August 12 Attorney General Palmer seeks state and county food administrators to help lower living costs. Hoover administration machinery will aid in gathering information for prosecuting hoarders. A House committee will meet to consider President Wilsons recommendation.
The Brunswick Lumber company formed by Lacy McKinnon and Milton F Brown has quickly become a key builder supply house in Brunswick. Located at Cochran avenue and streets with rail sidings it offers roofings plaster lime cement flooring brick laths and cypress boards. It is supplying material for homes on Newcastle street the Heeran residence and the Minnehan home on Gloucester street and is joined by L A Miller to grow further.
Washington Aug. 21 Representative Frear announces a congressional aviation committee will investigate charges surrounding John D. Ryan former head of the army aircraft production board. The probe will seek details on money spent for spruce production and logging roads at roughly 100000 dollars per mile.
At the Elks club a meeting advanced steps to form a Brunswick post of the American Legion. Temporary officers were chosen Linton E. Allen chair and Jas D Gould Jr secretary. Eligible veterans from April 6 1917 to November 11 1918 and Allied service members who are citizens may join. The group vows nonpartisan aims and to promote democracy and one hundred percent Americanism.
A committee of the Board of Trade appointed by the mayor studied water coal gas and fare issues. The clerical force of the Fred S. Stewart Shoe company in Atlanta, over fifty members, passed through Brunswick on their way home from a three day outing at St Simons Island hosted by Mr Fred S Stewart. The trip was funded entirely by Stewart and was warmly praised by the employees.
