Fire at Oglethorpe Hotel Causes Water Flooding Loss

A fire in the fourth story of the Oglethorpe hotel yesterday morning caused about 5000 to 7000 dollars in damage, mostly from water used to extinguish the flames. The blaze began near a cupola on the third floor and smoke prevented access, with officers and the hose team battling the fire until it was under control. Insurance covers the loss. several rooms and the hallway were flooded.

Laborers Arrive to Work at Yaryan Naval Stores Plant

About twenty to twenty five laborers reach the city to start work on the Yaryan Naval Stores plant construction. They will build three or four large tanks and perform steel work. Progress is rapid and completion is expected on schedule. Owners hope the factory will be ready for business by October 1.
