Glynn County Democratic executive committee held a meeting to set rules for the county and state primaries. The plan provides May 15 for nominations, district polling times, appointment of managers, pay, and procedures including ballot printing and eligibility.

Docket closes with largest list of Brunswick cases

The December term Superior Court docket in Brunswick shows a record number of cases filed and heard, marking the largest docket since Clerk du Bignon took office. Listings include actions for alimony, attachments, ejectments, damages, injunctions, and other proceedings involving Glynn County Board of Education, Mrs. Elizabeth Day, Matilda Tatnall, Bonnie Padrosa, Neptune Towing, Southern Railway, Seaboard Air Line, and numerous individuals and companies.

Towboat rivalry grows in Savannah harbor scene

The Savannah Press reports a new towboat company entering the local field adding competition for the bulk of Savannah towing. The Iris arrived from Darien to reinforce the Dandy which has long competed with the Propeller Towboat company. The Dandy’s master and Captain Peck of the Iris own large stock in the new venture while Wylly Smith and the Hilton-Dodge Lumber company of Darien lead the enterprise.

Inspector to Assess Brunswick Riflemen Tonight

Col. W. G. Obear, Georgia state troops inspector, will inspect the Brunswick Riflemen tonight at the armory around 8. The unit, given 60 days to recruit after prior trouble, has shown strong progress and is praised by Obear after his Albany parade assessment. All company members are urged to attend.

Trusts Only Laugh at Popular Outcry in a Peculiar Case

A historic case from Georgetown involves Brownfield and J C Scurry deputy sheriff, a 1900 riot, militia aid, and a murder verdict. A black defendant Whipper appealed to the state supreme court, was recaptured after escape, and resentenced before Whipper challenged jury composition to the U S Supreme Court, delaying execution.

Wrecked Vessel Sighted Off Norfolk Drifted Derelict

Captain Mc Donald of the US collier Sterling reports sighting the wreck of the schooner B. R. Woodside at 5 AM on April 26 in lat 30.50 N long 72.24 W. The ship was a total wreck with masts down except the foremast and jibboom. no crew visible and fate unknown. Attempts to burn the derelict failed. she drifts helplessly in heavy gales.

Handsome new residence planned on Union street

A contract was let for a handsome residence to be built on the vacant Union street lot opposite J. H. McCullough. W. H. Bowen & Co. secured the erection work, with construction to start in the coming weeks. Nearby homes by J. E. du Bignon and Mrs. Cora Rowe are nearly or fully ready. Brunswick shows a building boom with more plans underway.

Terrell Fails to Arrive in Brunswick During Campaign

Hon. Joseph M. Terrell, candidate for governor, was due in Brunswick yesterday but did not appear. He had only a few hours in town and a conflicting afternoon date elsewhere, sending a telegram promising a later Brunswick visit during the campaign.

Child Dies From Potash Ingestion After Nurse Carelessness

A 6 year old boy, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Spivy of Talbotton Georgia, died in Columbus on Saturday from potash swallowed three years ago due to nurse negligence. The mouth burn was severe and prevented him from eating solid food thereafter.
