Council Tries Lamb He Is Convicted in City Scandal

The city council found T. L. Lamb guilty of police force charges after extended hearings. The verdict dismissed him from the police department following a March incident where he allegedly violated department rules. The council scheduled further action against City Jailer Clinton Brown for Monday night.

Brunswick Council Adopts Memorial Day Arrangements

Brunswick Georgia met April 24 1903 with Mayor and aldermen present. Council suspended routine business approved bills and audits, heard a police court case verdict, and accepted Ladies Memorial Association invitation to attend Memorial Day services. Proclaimed city offices closed 1 pm to 6 pm on Memorial Day.

Office Building Under Construction At Mohawk Valley Steel Plant

A News representative observed the Mohawk Valley Steel and Wire site busy with activity. Carpenters were erecting a twenty by fifty foot office building for the resident engineer and staff, with occupancy and cornerstone ceremonies planned for Thursday. The B and B company is adding side tracks to speed material handling at the site.

Sheriff Sevens Case Heads to Savannah for Suspect

ABE SEVENS NO BEHIND SA SHERIFF BERRIE NOTIFIED YES TERDAY MORNING THAT NE GRO HAD BEEN CAPTURE WILL BE BROUGHT BAM. Ed. Mormon alias Able Sevens, a Negro, suspected in Lavenia Ow is killed, said to be in Chatham County. The Brunswick News reports citizen letters praising continued action against Western Union Telegraph service poor quality. Local officers are sympathetic. the board of trade has condemned the company and may prompt better service. Also noted is P. E. Ryan charged with larceny after trust and arrested at Union Station.

Aged Lady Minehan Dies at 93 in Brunswick

Mrs Patrick Minehan aged 93 longtime Brunswick resident died at her home corner Wolf and L streets at 7 last night. Born in 1810 in Damon county Ireland she came to the United States in 1850 and settled in Brunswick in 1857. She leaves a daughter Mrs Kate Fundy. Funeral from St Xavier Catholic church at 2 tomorrow afternoon. The city mourns for a venerable resident and friend of many.

Odd Fellows Celebrate Eighty Fourth Anniversary

Brunswick Odd Fellows plan a morning service at the First Baptist Church with Rev. W K Porter officiating and lodge attendance. An 8 o’clock Monday night anniversary program in the lodge room will feature R T Daniels of Griffin as principal speaker.

Death of W. M. Turner, Confederate Veteran

W M Turner aged 60 died last night at 11 at his daughter Mrs Emmett Calnan’s home after a long illness from cancer. He came from Lake City Florida to Brunswick for treatment and had been improving before declining. He leaves a wife in Lake City and three children Wm Brown Clearwater Fla Mrs R K Turner Statesboro Ga and Mrs Emmett Calnan Brunswick. Funeral planned for tomorrow time not set. He was a South Carolina native and a Confederate veteran with many friends sending condolences.

Mrs Heidt Wins $5,000 Verdict in Waycross Case

Mrs R B Heidt, former resident of this city, won a $5,000 damages verdict against Waycross Electric Light Company in Ware Superior Court. The suit claimed the death of her husband was caused by an electrical wire accident in Waycross. The trial lasted the week and the company plans to appeal to the state supreme court.

Yesterday at her daughter Mrs Rosa Franklin’s residence in Rich mond street, Ann Franklin marked her 84th birthday with dinner and a gathering of friends. The dining room displayed cut flowers including some she grew herself and a table of birthday presents. The pastor led grace and relatives and friends offered congratulations and best wishes. Dedicatory Fountain Ceremony At Local School House

A large crowd attended the fountain dedication at the school house. Dumas Malone gave the dedicatory speech beside remarks by Col. Krauss and A V Wood, with songs by the choir and Miss Haddie McCullough starting the motion. The Excel sior Literary society then held a regular meeting and a primary declamation contest selected fifteen boys for the prize competition.
