Stover and Pirkle Sentenced to Life in Georgia Case
In Gainesville on April 12, Harve Stover and Charley Pirkle were found guilty with a mercy recommendation. Judge Estes sentenced both defendants to life in the penitentiary. Defense lawyers Sloan and Galliard filed a motion for a new trial for Pirkle, to be heard April 27 at Dawson superior court.

Unknown Negro Lynched in Louisiana Mob Kills Suspect
A man charged with the murder of J. B. Thomas deputy sheriff of Victoria La. was captured by a mob of about fifty near Provencal La. and shot dead as he resisted an arrest attempt. Thomas had been wounded earlier when the suspect shot another man.

Florence Colesberry re elected as librarian. Directors' terms set. four directors to be elected yearly for three years. Bad wreck on Seaboard at Me Bee in South Carolina
Local freight standing at Me Bee on the Seaboard Air Line was struck by a through freight pulled by two engines. The collision caused both engines to be smashed, trains to burn, and heavy damage. No lives are believed lost.

Police Chief Shot by Prisoner in Elkin
In Elkin West Virginia Chief of Police P C Marstiller was shot and killed while transporting Wilfred Davis a wooisman whom he had arrested. Davis surrendered then killed him near the city prison. A posse recaptured Davis and a mob of about 1000 attempted lynching before the suspect was placed on a train to Philippi jail.
