State funds for Linn County schools detailed apportionment

The first apportionment under the new school law allocates 10 154 866 dollars to pay all amounts in full with rural districts receiving 2 992 536 and high school districts 6 964 432. State aid includes 23 000 for new buildings 128 904 for special instruction and 45 994 for educating orphans. Two payments are planned, the first immediate and the second on the 15th of next month. The state treasurer holds 3 493 622 83 dollars as the first payment. Overall funds indicate about 50 percent of all apportionments will be paid this year, with Linn County expected to receive about 50 850 dollars to support schools and 35 471 more than last year. A note emphasizes education as a state function and a minimum eight month term will be maintained despite limited funds. Concluded on back page.
