The second annual picnic for the Cat tey school teachers and scholars was held in the grove near McCollum cemetery on Saturday August 28 1937.187 attendees included ten teachers. A noon dinner followed by a short program. singing America prayer by R J McCollum and talks by teachers and guests highlighted the gathering.

The Grantsville Club met with Mrs. Jess Pulliam on August 25 for an afternoon gathering. The meeting opened with Yankee Doodle and closed with The Battle Hymn of the Republic. A short poetry and contest program, plus a shower for a member, was held. fourteen members attended along with visitors Mrs. Essie Latta, Mrs. Leo Pipes and son, Miss Carrie Neely and Donald Ray. The next meeting is set for September 8 with Mrs. Lloyd Spencer as club reporter.

Fuller wins at Iowa State Fair with Thurlo herd calves
True Fuller of Green Mountain Iowa and his daughter Miss June Fuller entered two calves in the 4 H club division for yearlings at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines. June Fuller won Reserve Champion with one calf and third with the other among many entries. Fuller also earned first and second on steer calves born 1936 and grand champion steer with a group of three. all calves are from H N Thurlo's Angus herd.

Estimates indicate American farmers will harvest over 5 billion bushels of corn wheat oats barley and rye totaling three to four billion dollars in value.
