W. C. Stone purchased two ponies from John Gable of Browning on Friday, a six year old mare and a nearly one year old colt. He said the pair were a good buy and he seized the opportunity.
Mrs Pennety Moore and Miss Myra Broyles traveled to St Catherine on Friday to attend the Baptist association gathering in a local church event.
The Browning school begins the week with high morale and strong enrollments. Prof Enyeart leads the senior high with 45 students including 24 nonresidents, while Miss Kraft and Miss Fields report robust first day figures in the high and grammar rooms. Supt. Bugeart and staff seek community support to keep Browning the best school town in Linn county.
Members gathered at Mrs. Dunlap's home for the Browning union monthly meeting. Miss Lara Walladée led devotions and Miss Wallace reported on the W. C. T. U. Convention in Linneus held September 1 and 2, inspiring attendees for upcoming plans on Sunday afternoon September 12.
Members discussed union patience and reducing refreshments as unnecessary cost. Mrs Dunlap hosted with ice cream and cake, two attendees recalled Linneus feast, farewell to Mrs Vergie Gibson moving to Green Castle. Next meeting set with Mrs Fleming on first Friday in October.

Miss Estell Mason and five dogs pulled a small wagon on the last lap of a seven year journey begun in Nome Alaska on October 27 1908. She has traveled Siberia Russia Sweden Germany and England and will reach Lincoln Nebraska before heading to San Francisco. She camps at livery barns and feeds the dogs herself drawing a large crowd in Laclede.
Contractor Carlos Western of Linneus is installing an eight globe lighting system on Linn County’s square. Four iron posts with three lights each will line the west courthouse side and a post with lights will crown the northeast and southeast corners. The city of Linneus provides current at no cost under an agreement.
L. M. Kenley and family moved to their new property in the northern part of town on Monday.
