Local Notices and Farm Advice Amid Social Updates

A batch of social items notes visits and dinners among Cassity Cady Hamner and Bivens families in Linneus with trips to St Louis and Jefferson City. A final settlement notice names Henry E. Hamman estate with November probate in Linn County. Agricultural guidance urges fall pig feeding for rapid gains, stressing legume pastures and self feeding with corn and shorts plus milk or tankage adjustments.

Economic Pig Ration From Shared Feed Resources

The text discusses mixing green alfalfa meal with tankage and linseed oil or cottonseed meal when available. Pigs reaching 50 pounds may stop shorts. With cheap corn, protein should be limited. If pastured, one half gallon tankage per bushel of corn may suffice. If legumes are unavailable, bright soybean hay plus half gallon tankage per bushel of corn and full corn access forms an economical ration. A mineral mix of salt limestone and steamed bone meal should be kept dry for pigs access at all times.
