The Stitch and Chatter Club gathered at Mrs Lydia Barclay’s home with twenty eight members present. They quilted and chatted, shared a noon dinner, and announced new officers and prizes. Blaze at Woodward home caused by gasoline stove
Early Monday a fire alarm rang when J B Moore and Noel Myers spotted flames at the Woodward residence. They woke Mrs. Woodward and found the blaze traced to a gasoline stove. The fire did not spread beyond soot and a burned kettle handle, thanks to quick action.

Mary C. Wilkes born September 4 1860 near Bloomington Missouri died September 29 1932 at her daughter’s home 2827 52nd St SE Portland Oregon after strokes a hip fracture and cast treatment. She married Wayne Crawley May 24 1886 in Linneus Missouri and was widowed June 26 1900. Survived by daughter Rosalie Holtgrove granddaughter Kathryn Holtgrove sister Mrs Menerva Pickler and many relatives. She taught music in Browning Missouri and Kirkville Normal trained as a musician and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church South later Eastern Star member.
