The Friendship Circle Club held an October 9 meeting at Mrs. Jay Smith home with sewing a dress and quilting a Wheel of Fortune quilt. A covered dish lunch followed. Officers elected for the year were President Mrs. Lou Slater, Vice President Mrs. Elba Page, Secretary Mrs. Irvin Smith, Song and Game Leader Mrs. Curt Bagley, Reporter Mrs. Erwin Smith. Postmaster J. D. Burwell feared an explosive device when a box clock in a mail sack sounded like a bomb. He fled to an adjacent room and cut his forehead on a hook in the process. After treatment he wore a bandage and joked about the incident.
