Brantners Honored At Farewell Basket Dinner

Friends and neighbors hosted a farewell basket dinner for Mr. and Mrs. B O Brantner before they move to Washington. Weather reduced attendance. a noon dinner and an afternoon of conversation and games followed. Attendees included Nova Morris, Andrew Pfeiffer, C L Britton, Lyle Britton, W P Barclay, T M Smith, Walter Smith, Herman Smith, George Martin, B J Lambert, Camora Abbott, Wm Riley, Everett Riley, Josephine Straley, Fred Robison, Harold Pfeiffer, Charles Lambert, Ray Lambert, and Mary Lou Pridemore.

Friendship Circle Club Elects Officers And Quilting Day

The Friendship Circle Club held an October 9 meeting at Mrs. Jay Smith home with sewing a dress and quilting a Wheel of Fortune quilt. A covered dish lunch followed. Officers elected for the year were President Mrs. Lou Slater, Vice President Mrs. Elba Page, Secretary Mrs. Irvin Smith, Song and Game Leader Mrs. Curt Bagley, Reporter Mrs. Erwin Smith. Members attendence was nearly full. The next meeting is October 23 hosted by Mrs. Elba Page.

Farewell Party for Roy and Alice Taylor Before Move

A large crowd gathered Sunday night at the Home of Mr and Mrs Beryl Head to bid Roy and Alice Taylor farewell before their move to the Fields place near Old Fields Mill. The Taylors have lived on the John Taylor and Wooten farms for over forty five years. Their children grew up there and many neighbors joined in the send off.

Browning Farm Club Holds Sixteenth Stockholders Meeting

Peters Host a Bridge Evening at Home

Mr and Mrs Wesley Peters entertained at their home on Monday evening at seven with a bridge dinner. Mr and Mrs S C Lantz each receiving high score. Guests expressed they enjoyed the evening and praised the Peters as ideal hosts.

Clock in Mail Sack Triggers Post Office Fright

Postmaster J. D. Burwell feared an explosive device when a box clock in a mail sack sounded like a bomb. He fled to an adjacent room and cut his forehead on a hook in the process. After treatment he wore a bandage and joked about the incident.

The Stitch and Chatter Club met with Mrs. Kathryn Steele on Friday October 11. Members of the Happy Hour Club and three Grantsville Home Makers Club members joined. They worked on quilting two quilts rug hooking embroidery dish towels and pillow slips and assisted with unfinished tasks.

Baskett and Oaks Tie For Life At M E South Parsonage

John L Baskett and Miss Emu gene Oaks were married Sunday morning October 13 at nine o clock by Rev W W Walthall at the M E South parsonage. Witnesses included Pres ton Baskett and Miss Alma Cotter. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs John Baskett of near Purdin and a Browning High School graduate now farming with his father. The bride is daughter of Wm Oaks of near the city and a Browning High School graduate class of 1931 who has taught since. The couple receive many congratulations.
