The State Building Commission finalized a Democratic slate with E W Stephens of Columbia and J C Hiller former labor commissioner as the two Democrats on the capitol board. Republicans Theodore Lacaff of Nevada and A A Speer of Chamois were chosen after multiple ballots. Lacaff, once Fulton resident, now Nevada banker, previously an architect and builder who contributed to William Woods College and Fulton buildings.
In a rural scene near town W A Merryman killed a large bird east of town after Billy spotted an eagle circling a pond about 200 yards from the house. A single accurate shot ended the chase and the bird measured five feet six inches tip to tip.
The Peoples Bank of Browning Missouri notifies stockholders to attend the annual meeting at the banking house on Thursday October 26 at 2 PM to elect a board of directors and conduct other business. Members may attend in person or by proxy.
Col. P. M. Gross of St. Louis and J. W. Fields bought seventeen head of horses in Milan Friday and about thirty here. It was a mighty busy day as men brought in horses and mules from miles around. The Cassity Barn square looked like a bustling horse market with farmers arranging and judging the stock.
Miss Lola R. Jones and Mr. Roger C. Williams wed October 9 at the bride’s parents home six miles east of Browning. The ceremony was simple, conducted by G A Fitzgerald with close relatives present. The groom, from Grand Ridge Illinois, is Illinois graduate aiding his father’s businesses. they will reside in Grand Ridge after a Nov 1 home arrival following a short East trip.
George Alexander and Garnet Ware were married Wednesday evening October 4 at 7 30 in the parsonage with Rev W C G Potter officiating. The couple are from prominent local families and will reside in town. The Leader-Record offers congratulations.
