Hazel Isabel daughter of Mr and Mrs H H Hatch born June 24 1916 died Sept 25 1918 aged 2 years 3 months 11 days. Survived by father mother two brothers one sister and many relatives. Funeral by Rev J F Patton at Hobby farm home then interment at Jenkins Cemetery.
In a wartime letter from France Cook Hiram Havens of Company C 356th Infantry writes of volunteering over the top, a 55 minute bombardment, and retreat no longer possible. He reports friendly rations of fried chicken and gravy and asks for news papers while urging kin to stay with elderly folks until he returns home.
