On November 12 a ceremony at Carrollton Missouri marks the unveiling memorial to General James Shields. Arch Bishop Ireland Hon J J Regan Gen Warren Keiffer and officials from Illinois Minnesota Missouri will speak. Shields, born in Ireland in 1810, served in Indian wars and Mexico, befriended Lincoln then opposed him publicly. He died in 1879 in Ottumwa Iowa after years in poverty. Chas VanWye
