Mrs Ernest Rensch of Laredo Missouri hosted Browning Chapter V P E D on Wednesday May 19 with a luncheon and readings by Mary Rensch Nellie Seaman and others. Prizes were won in contests. Guest list included many local residents. the host's family assisted. Mrs Jennie Jones death noted and funeral held at Pleasant Grove United Brotherhood Church.

Death of Mrs. Margaret Woodside Near Shelby

Mrs. Margaret Woodside died at her home one mile south of Shelby on Wednesday morning May 19 1937. Born October 9 1866 in Prebic Ohio she was the daughter of Joshua J and Rachel H Silver. She married Alex S Woodside of Browning Missouri January 25 1890. he died April 25 1895. They had three children including Samuel Mac Woodside.

Tornado Causes Wide Damage Near Gallatin Missouri

A tornado from near Gallatin traveled eastward Tuesday afternoon causing extensive damage to rural farms including Nellie Seaman Roy Burchett Wallace Keithley and others. The Greentop Inn and several homes were destroyed and telephone lines to Milan were cut. No injuries were reported. An ensuing heavy rain aided crop growth.

R W Caldwell longtime pharmacist in the Farmers Store drug department died yesterday morning at his home after a serious operation last Friday. Mrs Caldwell formerly Maude Holiday receives the sympathy of many friends as Browning mourns the loss of a valued employee and friend.

Livestock owners are invited to a meeting on Friday June 4 at Sni A Bar farm Grain Valley Missouri in Jackson County. 4 H Forestry and Sewing Clubs Organized in Rural Areas

Rural communities organize 4 H clubs for vacation learning. In Sorrel fifteen area youths join a 4 H Forestry Club led by Miss Violet Moran to study up to 15 native trees and their uses. Neighborly Neighbors Ladies Club in Sullivan First sponsors a nine member forestry group led by Miss Greta Caldwell. General Purpose Ladies Club in south Duncan Township sponsors a girls sewing club. Farmers Extension Office in Milan offers free literature and assistance to organize clubs.

An afternoon outing and picnic feast with hot weiners pie coffee and iced tea nourished about forty eight persons on Sunday May 23 in the westwood grove at the W H Oliver farm.

Whites Triumph in Club Attendance Contest Picnic

The club’s attendance contest ended with the Whites ahead of the Pinks by a slim margin. As punishment for losing, the Pink group hosted a picnic and weiner roast honoring the Whites, who admitted they were royally entertained. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. A. D. First Visit to Missouri for Seattle Couple

Mr and Mrs Frank Young of Seattle Washington spent the vacation visiting relatives in Auburn Nebraska Linneus and nearby city. Mrs Young had not visited for seventeen years. This was Mr Young s first visit to Missouri and was a happy reunion. Mr Young is assistant cashier of the Seattle Post Office employed there twenty six years.

Sunday School Picnic at Lake Wittona

Sunday May 23 Baptist Sunday school group drove in Herbert Bailey’s truck to Lake Wittona near Trenton. Lunch included wheat bread snacks and a steak spread for Lantz and Aunt Leatha. Afternoon featured boat riding and swimming before returning home with a long list of attendees.
