Poppy Day Observance Prompts Mass Wear of Red Poppies

Millions of Americans will wear red poppies on Saturday May 27 to honor war dead. American Legion Auxiliary volunteers will distribute flowers citywide with over 85 million poppies prepared by disabled veterans. Proceeds support rehabilitation and child welfare funds totaling about 3.5 million dollars. Poppies were made at Jefferson Barracks St Louis. The campaign aims to place poppies on remembering hearts nationwide.

Memorial Day Services at North Salem Methodist Church

Passing of a Good Man William R Young

William Richard Young born September 5 1879 in Linn County Missouri lived all life near Haseville. He married Anna Belle Hazen in 1905 and leaves wife children seven grandchildren two brothers two sisters and many friends after passing May 13 1950 at age 70 years 8 months and 8 days.

Browning High School Ends 1949 50 Commencement

Commencement exercises for Browning High School seniors marked the end of the 1949 50 school year. The ceremony featured a processional by Mrs Imogene Artz, invocation by Rev W A Pollock, performances by the girls sextet and readings by Neil Freeland.
