Isaac J. McCollum died May 12 1934 at his Linn County Missouri home aged 78 years 2 months 6 days. He married Eda A. Jones in 1877 and left eight children fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Funeral May 15 at home with Eld. Spurling Kirksville and Winigan choir. Burial at McCollum Cemetery near the old homestead.

About seventy five farmers from the Winigan area gathered Thursday evening May 17 to share farm concerns. Rolla A Baugher Emergency County Agent spoke on pasture improvement and weed control and noted the need for low per unit costs. Discussions covered chinch bug, soybeans planting shallow in fine seed beds, and tools like harrows weeders and rotary hoes. The beef cattle surplus and market impact were also discussed noting the US now has 10,000,000 more beef cattle than six years ago.

Chicago Stockyards Fire Devastates Large Area
A massive blaze in Chicago stockyards Saturday caused about ten million dollars in damage and ruined eighty acres of pens.
