A mass meeting at First Methodist Church urged contesting the May 7 local option election that made Chillicothe wet by 20 votes. Attornies L. A. Chapman F. L. Arthaud and L. A. Martin were named to handle the case as pledges topped $1,800 with hopes for $5,000.
Scott Browning's team balked as a harrow with a wired board toppled after a corner turn in a twenty acre field. The horses bolted through a fence, one horse severely cut by harrow and wire. Browning rushed medicine to the animal, which is recovering. He feared the worst and considered halting planting and finding a new team.

On a rural Missouri hillside, J. W. Head and his hand unearthed a leather pocketbook hinge only after a 15 inch dig. The 1907 ten cent piece and decayed paper suggest a burial long ago, with the owner identified as H. Tovey of Brookfield. The burial remains unexplained.
A. A. Healy left this morning for Cedar Rapids to visit his daughter Mrs. James Kemp and will also see Dr. Ray Woodhouse at Liberty. He plans to be away about two weeks, keeping his jewelry store closed in his absence.
The city enforces a strict anti drunken street policy. Marshall Harvey will escort violators to the Police Court with fines of 7.60 for first offence and 25 for second. Judge Marvin will ensure enforcement. Citizens are warned to stay sober on streets.
Browning sees growing improvement as residents add new walks foundations porches and additions. The town gains beauty and usefulness with property owners advancing renovations. Several new houses planned this spring and more potential builds after the work season ends.

W P Carter, prominent Linn county horse buyer, visited Monday with stock for the St Louis market. He has built Browning into a trade center for the kind of stock he buys and in 1911 shipped an average of two carloads weekly, distributing ready cash to local horse raisers and boosting area business.
The Farmers Exchange Bank held its annual stockholders meeting in its city building yesterday with strong attendance and a upturn in sentiment among attendees.
