Soldier Letters From Camp Humphreys Describe Rainy Return Trip
From Our Son Camp Humphreys Belvoir Va March 12 1918 Dear Papa We returned from Alexandria after a train load of lumber and heavy rain. The section was second back and most boys are still unloading while it pours. The grass is green and we are near town. I will send photos when it clears. I visited the Masonic temple in Alexandria and saw Washingtons chair apron Bible square and compas and the trowel used to lay the corner stone. Alexandria is full of history and treated us well. The mud is neck deep and we expect lighter work soon. I ate only breakfast in Alexandria, a rare meal since Rel.
