The Farmers Exchange Bank of our city shut its doors on Monday morning. President J. S. Harmon and cashier R. M. Calhoun had led a long era of stability. Deposits declined, loans failed on farms, and relief came from nearby banks. Deputies guarded cash in vaults as officers prepared for emergencies, with no public alarm reported.

J P Bolling and J S Harmon advertised for information about stolen harness. A man hauling cane mummies found the harness under the pummies, turned them over to Bucklin farm club. James Pierce, who had seen the ad, helped confirm ownership. Officers expect to locate the implicated gang and bring the culprits to justice.

Oyster Supper for Barn Helpers Hosted by Carl Porter

Carl Porter hosted an oyster supper on Wednesday night February 22 to thank those who shingled his new barn. About 88 guests arrived with oysters and milk contributions. 12 gallons of soup were prepared by Mesdames Opal Gooch Goldie Abbott and Grace Linhart. The party featured games cards and visiting with neighbors, held in four well lit rooms of his old home.

A Chevrolet collision resulted in extensive damage to both vehicles but no injuries among the occupants. Mr Scott from the city helped his brother and family to their home and said they were very lucky to escape serious harm.

Browning Male Quartette to Sing at Linneus First Baptist

The Browning Male Quartette with Hollis Duckworth Edward Williams Edgar Jones and James Williams performed two fine numbers at the last service. They will sing at the First Baptist Church in Linneus next Sunday evening as the Every Member Canvass proceeds to fund the 1933 budget. The Sunday School Staff reports strong attendance and plans continued enrollment to enlarge the church. Next Sunday morning at ten oclock the lesson titled Christianity and Human Suffering will be studied, inviting all Baptists in the area to join.
