Sunshine Workers Club Holds All Day Meeting June 13

The Sunshine Workers Club met Wednesday June 13 with Mrs Lawrence Riedle for an all day session. Warm weather limited quilting to blocks but featured basket quilts for Mrs Riedle’s daughters. A noon covered dish luncheon followed by a lengthy business meeting and singing. Prizes went to Mrs Will Abbott and Mrs Orville Thudhum. Participants included many named members and visitors. The next meeting is set for June 27 with Mrs Hadley Rulon.

Thirty Years at the Electric Theatre Benefit Show

The Worley Motor Company hosted a Ford Company benefit screening at the Electric Theatre last Thursday. Large afternoon and night crowds attended the all star cast program, admission free, described as a real treat for customers and prospective patrons.

World Service Day Activities at North Salem and Mt Zion

North Salem hosts 9 30 Sunday School 10 30 church services and a noon basket dinner as part of World Service Day. A short afternoon program ends in time for 3 00 services at the Christian Church. Mt Zion M E Church holds 7 45 services. Rev J W Barkley invites all to attend.

Flag Day Program Sparks Interest and Fun

Mrs Lester Burkholder led an instructive Flag Day program with selections by Mrs Ross Lyons and Mrs Lee Lyons. Participants saluted the flag and read the pledge before games. The next meeting is June 27 at Mrs Jesse Pulliam's home, with roll call My Wedding Dress. Visitors welcome. GR.

Bridge Party Attracts Seven Tables In June

Mrs Jennie Glaze Mrs Ira Nevins and Miss Lorraine Glaze hosted a bridge dinner for seven tables on Thursday evening June 14. Each table featured a bouquet of home grown cut flowers as a centerpiece. Miss Lorene Burkholder won the high score favor.

P. E. O. Chapter Hosts June Social Meeting

Mrs Herbert Bailey hosted the local P. E. O. Chapter on Wednesday June 13. Mrs Lila F. Williams reported on the State Convention and Miss Lorraine Glaze sang, conducted two Flag Day contests, and Miss Rensch gave a reading. Guests included Mrs Mae Twyman Miss Orryl Adams Mrs Stella Rensch and daughter Miss Mary of Laredo Miss Reba Frances Twyman Mrs Elizabeth Lantz and Mrs Nellie Seaman. A lap lunch was served.

Funeral for B D Bolling in San Diego remembered as esteemed Browning citizen

Beverly D Bolling died at his San Diego home on May 23 1934 aged 82 years. He was born April 18 1852 in Peeryville Kentucky son of M P and Lucinda Bolling. He married Sallie Fleming February 28 1877 and had five children. A pioneer of Browning he worked in lumber then helped organize the Browning Savings Bank in 1884 and led it until 1918. He moved west for health, was a devout Christian and widely respected civic leader. Funeral May 25 in San Diego with interment beside his wife in Greenwood Memorial Park.

Willing Workers Club Holds All Day June Meeting

The Willing Workers Club met with Maude Christy for an all day session. Members made yoyos and a wedding ring quilt, enjoyed a noon dinner, and a 2 pm business meeting was led by the president with thirteen in roll call. A poem and reading followed, then prayer by Anna Hatch. Next gathering set for July 11 with Aunt Mary Cotter.
