Judge Van Osdol sentences Brown to life for brutal slaying
Judge Paul Van Osdol ordered a three physician mental evaluation for Noble Brown, then sentenced the 20 year old to life after the commission found him mentally akin to a fourteen year old. The case involved Brown choking wife Pauline Sportsman Brown, dumping her outside near Columbia, and later confessing after false stories. Mrs. Brown died at a hospital and was buried in Marceline amid a large funeral. Brown was transported to Jefferson City after sentencing.

Wolves Found Near Scottsville Den Habits Revealed
Last Monday near Scottsville Aden of Young Wolves was found by Weldon Smith while gooseberry picking. The men dug four cubs from the den. three were killed and one captured alive. The brothers and Eugene Brossfield collected a $3 bounty each in Milan and returned with the live wolf. The den held chicken and turkey feathers amid missing fowl reports. They pursue the old wolf in hopes of stopping raids.

Rabbit versus snake ends in mother's daring rescue
Dewey Nickell on the Seaman farm watched a snake grasp a young rabbit. The mother rabbit charged in, kicking and attacking the snake until it fled. The incident halted without further pursuit and the farmer did not intervene further. Browning team loses in 16 innings on Chillicothe diamond 7 to 6 with Markey stealing home for the winning run.
