A Thrill in a Lifetime Comes to Brookfield

A Brookfield committee with J Virgil Belshe arranged a four day Indian cultural program from Horton Kansas featuring 25 warriors and families from four nations the Osage Sac Fox Kickapoo and Pottawatomie. The show includes traditional dances and a chief with aides and will be hosted on Burlington field. The act aims to educate about Native life and avoid posed photography. Local Legion support hopes to draw crowds and offer a memorable community event.

Mendon Visit From Cotter Family and Guests

Near Mendon, S. 8S. Cotter and his daughter Mrs. Francis Gooch of Saginaw Michigan, Miss Ida McQuown and Leland Burke were guests of Mr and Mrs Chas Jackson at Mendon last Friday. The Cotter and Jackson families were neighbors a few years ago.

Grasshopper meetings postponed to June tenth

Free clinic opens for examinations and treatment

Dr. E. G. Fuhrman announces a free clinic on Saturday June 11 and June 18 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. offering diagnosis and treatment for a long list of conditions. Women may be examined by a female assistant. all are welcome including children for a complete physical.

Browning Votes Yes on School Building Bonds

Two hundred ten votes favored the school building bonds with sixteen opposing. The district will fund 55 percent locally and 45 percent from government aid, plus 2009 state aid. The project includes an auditorium and gymnasium with completed work data sheets and specifications.

The Dry Ridge community 4-H Forestry Club met at the church on May 28 with thirteen members. Officers included Garnelle Falconer as president and Nelson Mundell as vice president, followed by Phyllis Mundell as secretary, Marilea Mundell as song leader, Ruth Mundell as game leader, and Mary Sue Bennett as reporter. A second meeting on June 6 at Miss Marilen Mundell’s home had eight members present, with pledge recited and games played. next meeting planned at Miss Ruth Mundell’s home on June 13.
