The tourist season in Missouri is in full blast as sightseers visit the state capitol marveling at its architecture and museum holdings. State Highway reports heavy foreign car traffic and the information desk provides maps and directions to visitors.
The Baptist Sunday School Booster Club hosted an ice cream supper in City Park Friday. About seventy five attendees enjoyed homemade cream and cakes despite cold air. The group, composed of men from the Sunday School class, works to improve the church lawn and plant trees and shrubs.
Mr and Mrs C N Russell entertained at their home Sunday with a one o clock two course dinner. Afternoon was spent in pleasant conversation and after a late hour guests departed declaring the day well spent. Attending were Mr and Mrs John Thurlo Miss Ella Keithley Mr and Mrs M P Massfield and Mr and Mrs John Keely.
Mr and Mrs Frank Neff hosted a family reunion at their home with a one o clock dinner. Attendees included Mrs Alice Culhghters of Humphreys Mr and Jack Barber of St Joseph Mr and Mrs Ben Alexander of Idin Mr and Mrs Henry Jufflebean and children Mr and Mrs Van B Arnold and children Mr and Mrs Harry Neff and husbands. The day was enjoyed and long remembered by all present.

Cora hosted Yellow Creek on Sunday in a hotly contested game that ended 7 to 4. For Yellow Creek, Riddle and Riddle shared pitcher duties while Chatman and Moore joined Cora in the battery.

Caroline Gallman Burkholder died at her daughter Mrs. Frank Kelley’s home on July 17 at age 84. Funeral held July 20 from the home, Rev. Carl McIntire of Park Baptist Church officiating. Burial at Rose Hill cemetery. Born May 14 1845 in Zurich Ontario. Married Daniel Burkholder January 3 1865. Survived by four sons Rudolph John William Dan, two daughters in law Hattie Miller and Emma Guyer, two brothers John and Jacob Gallman, one sister Mrs Anna Jansen, thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Missouri sheep owners are offered multiple sales of registered mutton rams across the state sponsored by local agencies with the College of Agriculture. Dates include Paris July 29, Ironton August 2, Chillicothe August 5, and Fulton August 9, featuring Shropshires and Hampshires.
Mr and Mrs Dave Burke hosted a Sunday dinner at their home northwest of town. Attending were Mrs R L Gibson and other guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mundell entertained the Hummel Wesley class at their Line street home Friday. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Shouse, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Calhoun, Mrs. Letha Bailey, and Miss Pelle Lorgan. Ice cream and cake were served as games and visiting filled the evening.
Cassie Lee Arnold wife of Benjiman G. Arnold died at the family home near Shelby on July 19. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church in North Salem. Born October 13, 1893 she was 35. She married Benjamin G. Arnold January 24, 1912 after years of cancer illness. Survived by husband and her father John W. McDonnald sister Mrs Quinn Guyer and brother Norman A. McDannald.
Farmers Store advertises corn and cats for immediate sale at the J M Bailey farm four miles northwest of Browning. Also promotes shoe bargains from 49 cents to 2 dollars 85 cents with sale continuing to August 11.

The M E Church announces Sunday school at 10 a m and Mt Zion preaching at 11 a m. A basket dinner is planned at noon with services at 2 p m. Evening service moves to North Salem at 8 p m due to the Chautauqua event. Quarterly conference set for July 30 at 2 p m. Pastor W J Cox.
Presiding Elder W L Myers will preach at 11 o clock at Morris Chapel on Sunday July 28. A basket dinner at noon follows. The 4th Quarterly Conference of the M E Church South will be held in the afternoon.
A new 2 cent Edison stamp honors Thomas Alva Edison on the fiftieth anniversary of the incandescent lamp. The stamp features a red design with a lamp and the dates 1879 and 1929, issued during Light's Golden Jubilee culminating in a Dearborn Michigan testimonial next October.
