Mrs. Emma M. McKee Dies in Kansas City

Emma M. McKee, 57, wife of W. R. McKee of McKee Lumber, died Tuesday January 17 at St. Luke’s Hospital Kansas City after a year as patient. A Linn County Missouri native, she taught in rural schools, attended Northwest Missouri Teachers College, and leaves a son and four brothers and two sisters. Funeral Friday January 20 at Stine McClure chapel with Mt. Moriah burial.

A benefit event at the High School gym drew a nice crowd. The girls basketball team won 20 to 4 and the boys beat the High by 28 to 25. Longs Return From Holiday Trip Through Many States

Mr. and Mrs. John Long with son Coneny returned home Friday from a pleasure trip to Florida. They began New Year’s Eve driving to St. Louis and visited relatives in Illinois Indiana Kentucky Tennessee North Carolina South Carolina Georgia and Florida. They toured the Smoky Mountains and stayed with family in Miami visiting more kin in Biloxi and Lamesa. Gerald, a Staff Sergeant in the Air Corps, joined them in Biloxi. The trip included a stop at the Old Veterans Home in Biloxi and continued through Arkansas Texas Oklahoma and Kansas before reaching Brookfield to visit Philip McKenzie and family.
