John William Thomas born March 1 1831 died February 15 1907 age 76 years 11 months 13 days. He was a faithful Christian worker and optimist who foretold his departure. Survived by his wife and three daughters he was a member of North Salem M E Church. Funeral Sunday morning at 11 at North Salem Cemetery. Sympathies extended by W E Royston.

Fire damages home on Main Street in Brumback area
Last Thursday at about 1 15 pm a fire alarm rang for a blaze at a G G Hers mans house on Main Street. Elder J W Brumback and family lived there. A bucket brigade arrived with ladders and tools and soon extinguished the fire with minor damage to the structure and some to contents.

School Closed After Successful Term at Gooth School House
Mr Mont Cumbo led a farewell for a term end on Friday at the Gooth school house. From 9 a.m. to noon the event reviewed classes with clear student progress.
