Snow blocked roads and illness caused many students to be absent part of the week. Irregular bus service due to road conditions and sickness affect attendance while schools urge 100 percent regular presence to maximize learning.
The room reports end of month exams and parent visits to strengthen home school cooperation. Students discuss famous birthdays in February, plan two minute talks, and plan a February party with valentines and games. Future Citizens Club meets Friday, with a Washington program and tributes to Longfellow and Lowell.
The past week featured a Valentine party with a decorated box, candy hearts, and cherries. At two o clock all were ready for a lively celebration as every child served as a mail carrier delivering valentines.

The Fleming Estate sale was held Saturday as advertised with brisk bidding. Auctioneer F. D. Carter and clerk E. C. Bailey ran the sale where most items brought good prices.

Mrs Edna Forbes entertained Cinderella Club members and guests with a Dessert Bridge Tuesday evening. Guests met at the Robert Moore home after at Gem Coffee Shop. Favors for high score went to Miss Peterson and Mrs Green. Traveling prize awarded to Mrs Peters and hospitality to Mrs Moore.
The Willing Workers Club held a full day meeting on February 9 with Mrs. Edgar Shepherd hosting. Sixteen members attended with four visitors and seven children and three men. Activities included a noon cafeteria lunch, a flower centerpiece, Psalms reading, a hymn, roll call, approved minutes, a $1.20 flower collection, a plant for a sick member Ann Brinkley, and a thank you from the Haley family. Committee plans for Jenkins cemetery provisions, a true and false contest won by Mrs. Emmett Haley, and secret sister birthday gifts were noted. Next meeting is February 23 with Mrs. George Prather. patriot-themed roll call.
The True Blue Club held its February 9 meeting at 1 30 PM with 18 members and four visitors. Mrs Lilburn Gilmer led the session as president and a program included a first aid lesson by Nurse Edgar Morris, a suede jacket talk by Mrs Donald Stone, and a song contest won by Mrs Lilburn Gilmer. Guests and secret sister gifts were noted. next meeting is February 23 at Mrs Everett Crookshanks with a covered dish luncheon.
