Services for Mrs Eva Williams Held February

Mary Eveline Williams born February 27 1861 in Linn County Missouri died February 6 1951 at age 89 years 11 months 6 days. She joined the Baptist church early spent life in Missouri moved to Oklahoma then South Dakota before settling in Purdin Browning and cared for a nephew Curtis Lydia of Gering Nebraska. She leaves four brothers four sisters and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at Purdin Baptist Church February 8 conducted by Rev Geeda Christy with choir. Casket bearers were the nephews. Burial in Purdin cemetery directed by Wade Funeral Service.

Infant Son of Mr and Mrs Sparks Born at McLarney Hospital

The infant Kenneth Laveren Sparks was born Saturday at McLarney Hospital Brookfield and died Sunday evening February 11. Graveside services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Nester Chapel conducted by Rev Geeda Christy. Interment followed under Wade Funeral Service. Attending from here were Levi Sparks Ronald Dixon and their spouses.

Wallace C Sayers born December 28 1870 in Sullivan County died February 7 1951 in Linneus Missouri after noon. He lived in Humphreys with wife Katie Badger and left five daughters and five sons including Emma Anders Julia Lindstrom Susie Jones and Jack Savers plus five stepchildren. Funeral held February 9 at Humphreys Christian church with burial in Humphreys cemetery.

Cadet Taylor Among Kemper Cadets Named to All Four Honors

Linneus cadet Jack o D Taylor son of D A and Mrs Taylor earned membership in four honor societies at Kemper ceremonies. He stands in the upper ten percent in military scholastic general and athletic fields. Fifty five cadets joined one society, nineteen joined two, six joined three, and Taylor joined all four. Liberty boys face Mendon in the state sub regional basketball tourney at Linneus next week. Ethel also visits Browning, marking the first meeting of Liberty and Ethel this season. Friday night games on February 16 promise strong action as the event nears.

Liberty Band Concert At High School Gym Draws Crowd

Last Friday evening the Liberty Band gave a concert in the High School Gym. The event was well attended and enjoyed. A silver offering was taken and funds amount to 15.52 to purchase band letters. The Senior Class is busy with the annual material due March 1. There is a flurry of typing writing cutting and pasting as yearbook books will arrive in May. Orders will be taken by the Senior class.

Week of February 19 offers a daily menu with tomato sauce on Monday beef and potato dishes, corn, milk, bread and butter, apricot sauce. Tuesday features ham and potatoes with peas milk bread and fruit cobbler. Wednesday includes minted ham carrot sticks potato salad bread milk plums. Phi Sigma Epsilon Initiates 14 Pledges at Kirksville College

Donald Linhart of Browning and 13 other pledges were initiated into the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity at Missouri State Teachers College Kirksville after a four week informal initiation. Linhart, a junior, is the son of Dr. and Mrs F S Linhart. The ceremony occurred in Kirk Memorial Building Chapel.

Mrs. Doris Hanman hosted The Stitch And Chatter Club on February 1. Members quilted and embroidered, enjoyed a noon dinner, and participated in contests won by Mrs. Mabel Lambert and Grace.
